Hi, I’m Dr. Liz with drlizhypnosis.com and Conversations for Effective Living. Today I’m going to talk about Steven Universe. If you don’t know what Steven Universe is, it’s this fantastic cartoon. It’s for kids, adults, teenagers –  hands down great cartoon. I sort of have my favorites over the years. Phineas and Ferb is one of them, love Phineas and Ferb. But what I really want to talk about is a song that goes on, one of their songs that they do. They do several, but one of the songs that they do is called “Here Comes a Thought.” And this is just hands down a wonderful song to teach mindfulness. Teaching mindfulness for kids and teenagers, teaching mindfulness for adults. So, I’m going to read you some of the lyrics so you can get a sense of it, and if you’re watching this video on my website, then this Steven Universe song video will be right there on the page (scroll down). If you’re watching on my channel, you can google it on YouTube.

Here are some of the lyrics to it.

First it describes someone getting really upset, and it says, “Here comes a thought that might alarm me, what someone said and how it harmed me, something I did that failed to be charming . . . ”

How often do we do that, right? Like all the time.

” . . . Things that I said that are suddenly swarming,” and then it says, “I’m losing sight, I’m losing touch, these little things seem to matter so much, and they confuse me.” And then the chorus goes on to say, “Hey, take a moment to remind yourself, take a moment and find yourself. Ask yourself, is this how we fall apart?” And the response to that is, “No, we don’t, it’s not how we fall apart and it’s all going to be okay, and I’m here.” It’s a duet that goes on.

It’s just a lovely message to say, “Hey, these thoughts are just going to go away,” and the bridge there is,

“It was just a thought, that’s all. It’s okay, we can watch them go by.”

That’s what it says. “We can watch the thought go by,” and then we can remind ourselves that everything’s okay and we can take a moment. Part of the outro is, “Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust.”

Like what a wonderful message, right? Calm yourself down, take a moment, think about flexibility, love, and trust. That this is just a thought that’s going to pass you by and it’s really not that big of a deal and you’re going to be okay.

Wonderful message. Go watch the video. That’s my thought for today. Remember, there’s all kinds of free stuff on my website, including free hypnosis files over there. So, go over there, get that stuff, be happy, and go on with your day. All right? I’ll see you next week. Bye.
